This Privacy Policy explains how weReader ("weReader", "we", "us") handles information when you use the weReader website, Android app, or related services at wereader.app.

Information We Collect

• Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, profile picture, locale, and Google sign-in identifier data needed to create and maintain your weReader account.
• Library and reading data: We store book metadata, reading progress, reading history, settings, highlights, notes, comments, reactions, group organization, and similar app data you create or sync.
• User-provided content: If you use AI, translation, dictionary, commenting, feedback, or bug report features, we may process the selected text, surrounding context, prompts, comments, logs, screenshots, or descriptions you submit.
• Device and diagnostic data: We may receive browser/app version, platform, timestamps, error logs, and similar diagnostics when the app checks for updates or when you submit feedback or a bug report.

Your EPUB book files are stored on your device by default. The app syncs metadata, progress, notes, and related reading data, but it does not upload your full EPUB files as part of normal sync.

How We Use Information

• Provide account sign-in, sync, reading progress, notes, comments, and backup/restore support.
• Run AI, translation, dictionary, and book organization features you request.
• Debug crashes, investigate bug reports, improve app quality, and operate the service.
• Communicate with you about support, privacy, deletion requests, and service issues.

Sharing and Service Providers

We do not sell your personal information. We may process information with service providers that help operate the app, including hosting/database providers, Google sign-in, Google Fonts, and AI model providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini when you use AI-powered features. These providers process data to provide the requested service or support app operations.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the service, or to respond to valid legal requests.

Security

We use HTTPS/TLS for data in transit and limit server-side data storage to information needed to operate and support the app. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Retention and Deletion

We retain account and reading data while your account remains active or as needed to operate the service. You can request deletion of your weReader account and associated server data from inside the app or at wereader.app/account-deletion/. We may retain limited records when necessary for security, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or backup integrity.

Your Choices

• You can use local backup/export features to keep a copy of your reading data.
• You can delete books from your local device library.
• You can choose whether to submit AI prompts, feedback, or bug reports.
• You can request account deletion by emailing support@wereader.app.

Children

weReader is not designed for children under 13 and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to weReader, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices or legal requirements change. The updated date above shows the latest version.
